The Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels comprises seven distinct Scottish hotels, originating from the historic Crieff Hydro hotel founded in 1868. As a family-owned business, it operates hotels at several picturesque locations throughout Scotland, catering to families, couples, and groups. The group is recognised for its extensive range of activities, high-quality amenities, and dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The Challenge

Crieff Hydro were looking to centralise IT across all seven of its Scottish hotels to enhance collaboration, streamline data access, while migrating to a new Property Management System, addressing inefficiencies caused by independent operations.

The Solution

AMiTEK assisted with the modernisation of the group’s hotel IT infrastructure by first extending the original Crieff Hydro Hotel network to encompass all seven properties, followed by integrating the network into Microsoft Azure for centralised service management. The migration from Microsoft Exchange on-premise to Microsoft 365 Exchange Online was completed, with SharePoint and Teams implemented alongside a new central file server.

Each property was securely connected through WAN IPsec connections, utilising existing servers as local Active Directory controllers for streamlined file and print services. The deployment of an additional dedicated Microsoft Azure network, featuring Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, enabled secure access to the new Property Management System for all hotels while maintaining full PCI compliance.

These initiatives have introduced advanced hospitality technology solutions, resulting in enhanced operational efficiency, strengthened security, and improved collaboration across all seven hotels, thereby achieving the desired connectivity and optimised setup.
