The client

Redhammer Demolition is a demolition contractor operating across London and the South East.

The challenge

Redhammer had worked with AMiTEK previously, and came to us having outgrown their existing server hardware for both resources and performance.

The solution

The initial challenge was to plan a migration away from the existing Microsoft Server Essentials operating system to a more up to date Windows Server operating system using Microsoft Azure Active Directory Connect.

With the original Microsoft Server Essentials configuration being tied into the business Microsoft 365 tenant, our first task was to disconnect this service and force all Microsoft 365 user accounts to become cloud only accounts.

With the Microsoft Server Essentials setup now disconnected, we built and deployed a new Windows server as an Active Directory Domain Controller for a completely new internal domain network.

New users were created on the new Active Directory network to match their original configuration from the Server Essential setup. Microsoft Azure Active Directory Connect was then deployed on the new server and configured to synchronise with the corresponding cloud user accounts in Microsoft 365.

All network services and file data were then migrated to the new server and all existing workstations were migrated to the new Active Directory domain.

The outcome

We currently provide Redhammer with IT support on an Ad-hoc basis which suits their business operation.
